Research Scientist - Amazon Web Services
Atefeh is a research scientist with Amazon Web Services. She has been working on network modeling and network traffic measurement for planning backbone network capacity. Atefeh received her PhD in Computer Science from the University of Melbourne. She also holds a M.Sc. degree in Computer Engineering and a B.Sc. degree in Information Technology Engineering, both from the Amirkabir University of Technology. Atefeh’s PhD research was on Energy and Carbon-Efficient Resource Management in Geographically-Distributed Cloud Data Centers. It was mainly focused on the development of policies and algorithms for placement and migration of virtual machines by considering data centers’ energy sources, carbon footprint, power consumption, and network distance, while meeting the required quality of service for Cloud users. Atefeh has also worked on the design and consultancy of IP/MPLS Core Backbone Networks. Atefeh has served on technical program committee of various international conferences and she has been on peer-review for several international journals.
