Chief Technology Officer - NTT Innovation Institute
Doug Junkins serves as NTT i3‘s Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and a member of the company’s executive team.
In his role as CTO, Doug is in charge of technology and innovation at the NTT Group’s premier applied research and development center in North America. He is responsible for ensuring that NTT i3continues to be a leader in introducing technologies that enable NTT ’s enterprise customers to compete successfully in the new world of digital business.
Previously, Doug was CTO at NTT America, where he was responsible for the company’s technology procurement strategy and vendor selection, industry relations and standardization efforts, and overall product portfolio coordination across the Data Center Services, Global IP Network and Global Solutions business units. Doug also jointly served as vice president of IP development for the Global IP Network Business Unit at NTT America. His responsibilities included network architecture, tool development and peering relations for the NTT Communications Global IP Network.
Doug transitioned to a leadership role at NTT America when the global IP network business was migrated from Verio, which was acquired by NTT Communications in August of 2000. During his tenure with Verio, Doug served as the vice president of IP engineering, where he was responsible for building Verio’s U.S. backbone network and integrating the engineering and operations of 54 individual ISPs acquired by Verio. Prior to Verio, he was a senior network engineer for NorthWestNet in Seattle, Washington, where he was responsible for the network engineering of their regional IP network.
Doug holds a Master of Science in electrical engineering from the University of Colorado – Colorado Springs, and a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from the University of Washington.View the CEO Roundtables
